Jesse Unger

CSO / FOUNDER

Jesse began in the creative industry working for startups as a growth strategist and creative before getting her masters degree in integrated marketing from the Northwestern University Medill School. From there she developed a reputation as a passionate innovator in the world of strategy.

At TBWA Chiat/Day she developed a modern playbook on the network’s Disruption methodology that spun off a new workshop practice—helping dozens of companies completely re-invent themselves. After that she created Sway, a department focused on understanding how to change behavior in the modern influence economy, all while leading strategy for new business.

Jesse then went to Mother LA where she built the brand strategy department from the ground up. Her work has fundamentally transformed brands from unicorns to Fortune 100 companies. She’s been a featured speaker at FastCo innovation festival and had her research discussed on panels at SXSW.

Simon Bruyn

CCO / FOUNDER

Simon started his career in tech as a developer at numerous startups in the early mobile space before making the jump to the marketing world, eventually running the creative department at Mother LA where during his time there he helped triple the size of the agency.

His work has created transformational change for clients big and small. He’s helped startups get noticed and acquired for billions, QSR chains have their biggest sales in their 60 year history, helped develop early childhood education tools with the White House and even changed laws around the country.

Simon has also dabbled in the new media space, creating and growing a podcast to 100,000 monthly listeners and continues to build tools at the intersection of technology and creativity. He’s shared his takes in numerous publications from FastCo to Variety and had his work discussed at TED.

Romain Naegelen

CEO/FOUNDER

Curiosity has been driving Romain his entire life. After getting his MBA in Marketing, Romain set out on a career of building out new companies and creating new offerings for established companies.

At the beginning of the digital marketing revolution he moved to Hong Kong where he started up the first Digital Brand Department in Asia for the TBWA network. From there he consulted on growing the digital business inside the TBWA network with an emphasis on the Latin American market before settling in Los Angeles. 

He went on to start Mother LA, growing it from scratch to a financially and creatively robust 60 person agency. He’s helped accelerate the business of blue chip clients across just about every industry from auto and tech, to financial services, QSR and sports. He remains an active investor and advisor to early stage start ups.
